“It’s true: the grizzled “laureate of American lowlife” Charles Bukowski often used his sharp tongue to viciously lambast those close to him. But damned if he didn’t also pen some of the most uplifting and hopeful poetry of the 20th century. Here’s “The Laughing Heart” as read by another (decidedly kinder, gentler) grizzled laureate of American lowlife, Mister Tom Waits.”
You know there’s something wrong with the world when the French throw a better riot than we do.

I remember thinking it was neat when I first found about it back in like 2002. This was before Sasha and Stoya, remember, so it was refreshing just to see small-titted pale girls, never mind the tats and piercings. I think it was Voltaire that really made me go “Whoa”.
But the site has always had this weird identity crisis about whether it’s “porn” or not. It markets itself to...

IN BOSTON! IN THE FALL! I’ve always wanted to go to Boston in the fall ROAD TRIP!
I’m reading this book (fancy that). It’s called Fool. It’s by Christopher Moore (a very humorous fellow) It’s King Lear from The Fool’s (here gifted with the name of Pocket) perspective. It’s fucking filthy. I love it. It’s quite hilarious, and since I am rather familiar with King Lear it’s fun to read an account of what is happening between scenes.
So have you all noticed that the tumblr staff are all awesome>? They make me giggle inside as I stalk them from the interwebs.
Dear Timothy Leary
God bless and FUCK YOU.
I’m watching Gonzo now. I was bummed when Hunter S. died, but I wasn’t surprised at all. By that time I was well acquainted with his work, having started reading his work with Hells Angels which I read in 6th or 7th grade, and subsequently devouring everything I could find of his from then on. So by the time 2005 came around I was not at all surprised to read about his death. Like...
There are actually many wise words in Californication. I’m not sure I’m comfortable with how much it speaks to me. It’s like looking in a mirror that shows you too many of the things you hate about yourself.
I’m early in the series. 5 episodes in or something like that. I think I like it quite a bit. At least it makes me laugh at the parts of me I hate. Although, watching...
“Because it seems like once you get laid, your life turns to shit”
Wise words from an unlikely source. Californication to be exact.
Dear John (and other unfortunates)
So, not so strangely enough, it turns out all of my friends are fucking incredible people. Well all of the ones who aren’t evil sacks of melting turnip, but I’m still friends with because, well, they’re my mate what am I supposed to do>? <—A DIGRESSION! My friends are amazing. I am inspired to awe. Unfortunately I never talk to them. Some of them (including the one...
Computer games about sex have a big effect on the kids who play them. In the first Leisure Suit Larry game, if you failed to equip a condom before attempting to have sex with a prostitute, you would die. That had a pretty big impact on me. The game also gave you two hours to get Larry laid, otherwise he’d commit suicide. That also had a pretty big impact on me. Now there’s a new game about to be...

I’m feeling vaguely trapped.
No. That’s wrong. “Trapped” implies a sort of restlessness. A caged animal is “trapped”, what I’m feeling is more like a stagnation. With zest of wanderlust. I have yearnings for distant airs. But it’s a nostalgic sort of yearning. Like remembering an extended vacation.
Extended vacation sounds nice. Say for around 6...

Guy on the street: what's up cutie?

I’ve been on this crazy David Lynch kick since I watched Mulholland Dr again the other day. I guess it was actually like two weeks ago, making this the longest I’ve ever gone on a single director. ANYWAY! Fortunately for me everyone else seems to be on a David Lynch kick too
