thedailywhat: How About That of the Day: For 24 years, Canada was forced to watch as its national Under 17 soccer team lost match after FIFA U-17 World Cup match, outscored by superior players 45-3 across 13 games. Enter: Quillan Roberts, the team’s 16-year-old reserve goalie, who, in the 87th minute of play against England, with his team down 2-1, shot a powerful kick from the halfway to score...

I found the most bizarre radio station.
Today they played big band swing, creepy ambient electronica, and Peruvian folk music. I have yet to hear a station identification or a single commercial. I could google the station sure, but then the mystery would be gone. Best guess is they’re broadcasting from Berkeley though. Seems the most likely.

Tor and the End of the World - Mark Gibbs -... →
An amusing (and interesting) hypothetical timeline for Internet War One (IW1) which (knowing the media) would probably actually be referred to as iWar. Using the Tor Challenge as a leaping point.

I am off on an adventure for falafel.
It won’t be a very long adventure. There’s a Mediterranean place just down the street from me. Probably a 5 minute walk.

NASA unveils new deep-space exploration vehicle |... →
NASA said today that it intends to “aggressively” pursue options for a new heavy lift launch vehicle capable of taking humans to deep space. The MPCV would presumably be placed atop any such rocket. “We are committed to human exploration beyond low-Earth orbit and look forward to developing the next generation of systems to take us there,” said NASA administrator Charles...

– Warren Ellis I spend a lot of time looking at quotations. I found this one and I don’t know where it’s from or when he said it, but it’s so perfect. It really sums Warren up nicely: simultaneously the best and worst thing you’ve ever known. (via therealkatiewest)
